Living an Artist Life

On coming out of the closet with my artist life…

“Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads.” ~ Erica Jong

I am an artist. I live an artist life.

I don’t know why, but that phrase has been so intense to fully embrace and claim in my life. Perhaps it’s because living an artist life to me has looked like this in the recent past:

I live an artist life, and I do my art when I get home from my day job…

I live an artist life, and I spend my time supporting other artists get their life organized…

I live an artist life, but no one has bought my art lately, so that must mean I am not an artist…

This list of excuses, feelings, and moments, a feeling of the moment. But what it is not, is the truth. The truth is, and I would sing this from the top of the mountains to you if I could, we are all artists. By living and existing, we live an Artist life.

Think of your body as a paintbrush, leaving color filled impressions everywhere you go. Think of your life as a story, that you make up with your thoughts. Think of your soul as an expression of God, filled with abundance and the essence of beauty: you.

As this year draws to an end, another layer of my being is cleared out (somewhat painfully at times, I’ll admit) to birth a new self. I am claiming my art & art business as mine. I am claiming my creations, expressions, and self as a valuable part of this circuit of energy we experience in the world. I am an artist. I live an artist life.

I invite you to take a moment today and find an piece of your life that you can claim as an artist life. Maybe it’s your embrace of a warm cup of tea, perhaps it’s the way you read a story to your children at night. Everyone has the artist spirit. It’s your big work to gain the courage to embrace this artist life in yourself.

Whatever you do, create your day in the spirit of art. Create your life with the knowledge that YOU have the power to be in the flow of your art and creative being. Remember that if you need a guide to step into your creative self, I offer that to people around the globe. You are never alone in this journey. It’s my service to shine the creative light into your soul.

Take one simple step a day to remind yourself of the abundant artistry that abounds.

To your artist life,
rose
