You don’t have time for creativity, but do you have time for this?

It’s true. You don’t have time for creativity yet you’re flooded with ideas all day and night.

So what do you do? Abandon the whole creativity thing? Sounds about right, right?

Yet, you can’t abandon it. Because, you know, your creativity is you. It’s in you.

I don’t think we’re meant to be creative all the time. In fact, I know we’re not to be creative all the time.

Why are we constantly told and taught to push through our creative blocks?

When you look at your day to day, the question to ask yourself:

Do I not have time for creativity, or do I not have time for my ideas?

Many of our creative ventures begin with the spark, the idea. Here’s my greatest trick to help you with all those ideas:

Write them down in a notebook. Put the notebook away. Return to your glorious ideas when you have time.

You may be saying: Rose, I have so many ideas, am frustrated that I don’t have the time to do anything with them, and then when I do have the time – I spend it scrolling facebook or changing a widget on my website.I get it. I really do. I want to say this, too.

That by tracking my mood and creative ideas (one of the things I teach in Learn Creativity) I have found that about 7 days of the month I actually want to make my art.

That’s a total of 84ish days a year that I’m painting. I’ll take it. You know why? Because I trust the process of my creative rhythm.

Some people say they paint every day. Maybe they do. What makes me unique is that I’m not like everybody – neither are you.

I trust that sometimes my creativity is in writing, or in staring at the sky
with my son, or in looking at a painting in a book, or in sleeping and resting.

My parting wish for you is that when you do find the time to create, that you feel free to create because you’ve got your ideas in one spot.

Even if it’s only a few days a year that you feel the creative impulse, if that is what works for you then it’s perfect.

Embracing you…
